Week 11: Thanksgiving means a short week…

…which just means less time to finish the final project! 🙂

Monday was all about working the legs with worlds worst spokeshave, getting closer…thank goodness Nick did fresh sharpen on them this morning which was a huge help. I definitely will need to practice the spokeshave next year, a tool I definitely need to master.

I did a lot of sanding also, in fact the entire afternoon was about sanding the case. Finally, I did an epoxy test with a scrap to see how it could work to fill a few of the gaps/checks in the panel. I am not going to fill the worm holes, I want to leave them natural.

Legs are clamped to check for gluing and the joinery, loving the look!

Tuesday was more finishing and fine tuning work. I applied Osmo to case and door panel frame which is looking great. Plus, the epoxy test worked well, so in the afternoon I did apply it to the panel in a few places.

And of course, more tuning of the legs and their gorgeous curves, plus where the legs meet the aprons to ensure the curve smooths out as it comes into the flat joint.

The legs will never end, more spokeshave and sandpaper! 🙁

Wednesday was more work on the legs, and more than once I have wondered when will this end. :). Given the holiday weekend, it was an early end about 3pm. Short but good week!

With a coat of Osmo, and looking great. The apron in the foreground gives you a sense of the color change with the clear Osmo finish.
